1 Week Old

Hudson,

You are 1 week old today!

1 Week Old

I've got to say, I am in shock that you are already 1 week old. And today is my due date! I'm already enjoying today so much more than a week ago.

Last night as Daddy and I were in bed trying to get you to calm down I got big time tears in my eyes. This week has gone by so fast. You are the most amazing gift we have ever received and everyday we talk about how perfect you are.

You sleep like a champ! Unfortunately, last night this caught up with us and we had a hard time getting you to go to sleep but you finally did. You only wake up 2-3 times a night.

For about a day and a half we had to supplement with formula because mommy's milk hadn't come in yet and you were a starving little boy. But now you are only breastfeeding and doing so well...with one side. The other side you are not interested in which is causing some major soreness but we are powering through. :)

At one week old you love your bouncy seat. It almost instantly puts you to sleep although you really don't need much help in that department. You have been sleeping in your crib since your first night home from the hospital. It has been so good for you and us. We swaddle you and put you in your crib and you sleep so well.

Although, without the Angel Care monitor we would not be able to do that. We love that thing!

IMG_8078

You also love your Wubba Nub. You will put your hands over him to hold your paci in your mouth. You are so smart already!

You are still so tiny. When we left the hospital you weighted 7 pounds 1 ounce. You have the sweetest little chicken legs.

We love you beyond words Hudson. We cannot imagine life without you and we are falling more in love every day.

Happy 1 Week sweet boy!

Love,
Mommy

Hudson's Birth Day

First of all, thank you all so much for all of your sweet comments, tweets, text messages, emails and congratulations! We are so beyond blessed right now and are grateful for our new precious gift.

If you had asked me last Thursday night (which several people did at Bunco) when I thought Hudson would make his appearance into this world I would have bet big bucks that it would be today at the earliest. I was so convinced that he was happy and not planning on going anywhere for a while. So I guess it's a good thing I'm not a gambler!

Friday morning I woke up at 6:00 and thought that I needed to go to the bathroom. I had been up every hour that night going to the bathroom so it wasn't unusual at all. As I turned over in bed I felt a "pop" and immediately thought "this is it" and jumped out of bed because the waterproof mattress protector that we bought on Memorial Day was still in the drawer of my bedside table. Opps.

I went to the bathroom and then to the guest room to get John. He had to move in there in the middle of the night because pregnancy had caused me to start snoring. I turned on the light and said, "John, my water broke!" He jumped out of bed with a huge smile on his face. He was so ready.

As I was standing at the edge of the bed I had the real water breaking experience and had to have a towel between my legs as we got the last minute things for the hospital.

We got to the hospital at 6:30. They took me to a triage room and the nurse who we knew from one of our classes said she didn't want to even bother messing up a room because my water had clearly broken. So they took us straight to our birthday suite (which I labor in, deliver in and recover in...no moving!)

IMG_7715

They got me all hooked up and then the waiting started. By 9:00 I started feeling contractions. Not bad at all though.

At 9:40 Dr. J came by to check me and said I was still just a finger tip dilated but his head had come down. He ordered pitocin to start to help things along.

9:50 they started the pitocin and by 11:30 I was really feeling things so I asked for my epidural.

IMG_7729

At 11:45 I got the epidural and started to feel relief almost immediately but by 12:20 my blood pressure dropped big time and it caused Hudson's heart rate to drop. Dr. J, the anesthesiologist and several nurses were in the room as they monitored me and Hudson closely. They stopped the pitocin. And threw a pair of scrubs at John and said to be ready for a c-section.

They gave me something to bring up my blood pressure and had me laying on my left side. What they did worked and by 1:15 Hudson and I were doing great.

Dr. J went back to his office and the nurses continued to monitor me and Hudson. They started the pitocin again.

IMG_7734

At 2:00 Dr. J called to check in and since I had not made any more progress he said that by 4:00 if I was still at the same spot we were going to do a c-section. Hudson just wasn't coming down like he should and wasn't responding well to the pitocin.

IMG_7737

At 4:00 my mom and John's mom both got to the hospital. I was so glad that they got there in time to see me before I went into surgery.

IMG_7738

IMG_7741

Around 4:30 they started getting me ready for surgery and by 5:00 they took us back to the operating room. They gave me a more concentrated medicine through my epidural and I felt absolutely nothing.

John was incredible. He stayed by my head the whole time encouraging me. We were so anxious to hear our little guy come out and cry his first sweet cry.

At 5:16 Hudson Spencer Woods was born! He was so perfect and had lots of dark hair.

John got to cut the cord and then left with Hudson to show him off to his family that was waiting in the hall. They took him back to our room where he got his first bath, checked out by the pediatrician and weighed and measured while I was getting put back together.

I was out of there by 5:45 and was very out of it. They took me back to our room where our family and a few friends were and I got to hold my sweet boy for the first time.

I was having some issues after the c-section. I was in a crazy amount of pain and it felt like I was laying on a heating pad even though I wasn't. It took me about an hour before I was feeling okay again.

We spent the rest of the evening loving on our new baby boy and showing him off to family and friends. It was the most amazing day ever and the best birthday present I could have ever asked for!

Stick a Fork in Me

It is currently 5:34 am. I've been awake for at least an hour and went to bed probably around 2:00. You do the math.

The main reason for my lack of sleep tonight is the horrible headache I've had since I got in bed.

I've been praying all night that I would either start having contractions or my water would break.

I've only maybe had 5 or 6 Braxton Hicks contractions this whole pregnancy.

I am 1 week and 1 day from my due date. Everyone thought this little guy would come early. I'm praying he still does. I'm beyond ready.

Tomorrow is my 28th birthday. It really doesn't feel like my birthday is tomorrow. I guess we are too consumed with our precious baby boy that we are ready to meet.

I started getting carpal tunnel in my right hand almost 2 months ago. It's slowly gotten worse and in the last week I have it in my left hand also. It's painful.

I haven't blogged in 2 weeks. I have no idea why. I have pictures of our house to post yet the idea of creating that post overwhelms me. Other than that there is not a lot going on. Just waiting.

The sun is starting to come up.

In the short time I did sleep last night, I dreamed that my friend and I opened a shop called Post Hudson. It was a women's boutique that specialized in postpartum clothing. We had tons of shoes.

I'm officially done. I'm ready to hold my sweet baby boy, ready to not be pregnant, ready to see my husband with our son and ready to wear cute sho

McKinney High School Class of 2001

This past weekend was my 10 year high school reunion. It is so hard to believe it has already been 10 years!

Unfortunately, we were not able to go because we live about 7 hours from where I grew up and my doctor quit allowing me to travel a month ago.

This video was shown at the reunion and I had so much fun watching it. It is probably meaningless to most of you because it is pictures of me and my friends in high school but this blog is my memory book first.

Wednesday Love!

via Jamie!

1.

I am loving Hudson's room! It is 99% finished and when it is I will do a full nursery tour, but the final touch I am waiting on is important. But in the meantime...here is a sneak peak!

This is a picture of a Hudson car. They used to make these in the early 1900s and John got a little creative with this picture in Photoshop. He "cartoonized" it so it looks a little more kid-ish and the license plate says, "WOODS."

And Oliver is patiently waiting on his little brother! (Ignore the blue painter's tape on the floor.)

2.
I am loving that I have pictures taken of our house as of yesterday and am working on a before & after post complete with pictures! I know so many people have been waiting on this for over a year now. (We celebrated 1 year of buying our house this past weekend!) It has taken that long to get things pretty much done. Then being on bed rest has made it difficult to have it clean enough for pictures and looking like I want. But they are coming!

3.
I am loving that we couldn't be more ready for Hudson to make his debut! I will be 37 weeks on Friday and considered full term. I would be more than happy for him to come at any point after that. And we are physically ready for him as well. The carseat is in the car. Our bags are packed (and have been for 3 weeks) and by the back door. All of his newborn and 0-3 month clothes are clean and smelling so sweet (love Dreft!). We had our last childbirth class last night which was a make up class since we missed it last month because of my hospital stay.
IMG_7671
I have sanitized some of his paci's in boiling water.
IMG_7672
And they are just waiting to be sucked on by our sweet boy!

4.
I am loving Beverly Hills 90210 on Netflix! I used to watch this show years ago and just recently started watching again while on bedrest. It's cheesy and I love it.

5.
I am loving this post by Kodi. Even though I'm not a mom yet, I have friends who are and know all about the working vs. staying at home "argument."

6.
And last...I'm loving Pinterest! It's so addicting and fun and a great way to keep track of all the things I find online that I love.

Happy Wednesday!

Who I Am

I saw this on Emily's blog a couple weeks ago and thought I'd share mine today...

I am...Lindsay. I am almost 37 weeks pregnant. A wife and almost 28 years old.

I want...to be comfortable. Last night John actually asked me if I am ever comfortable. Not really...I am not comfortable sitting, standing or laying down.

I have...an incredibly supportive husband. Being on bed rest has been difficult and he has been so amazing.

I wish...this baby would come in the next 2 weeks. We're ready!

I hate...living so far from my family. With this little guy's arrival just around the corner it is making it more and more difficult to be 7 hours from my family!

I fear...parenting. I know it will be difficult but I don't want to screw our kid up.

I hear...the air conditioner running. I haven't turned on the TV this afternoon and have been reading (and now blogging).

I search...for summer clothes to wear after Hudson gets here. It's hard to know what I will be wearing but I want to look cute and still be cool...summers in South Texas are brutal!

I wonder...what it will be like to have a baby. I can imagine, but really...we have no idea. I can't wait!

I regret...cutting bangs a couple months ago. Dumb move. I had bangs a few years ago and hated them. I wasn't sure what I was thinking this time.

I love...my husband and my life. I am so blessed.

I ache...all.the.time. Seriously, something is always sore when you are 9 months pregnant!

I always...eat egg whites for breakfast and have a bowl of Honey Nut Ceerios for a night time snack. I've become pretty predictable during pregnancy.

I usually...wake up about 4-6 times a night to go to the bathroom. It's not too bad as long as I am able to go back to sleep pretty fast.

I am not...going back to work after Hudson comes! It has always been a dream of mine to be a stay at home mom and I'm going to be able to do it.

I dance...not as often as I would like. Not saying I'm a "dancer" but I wish I had more opportunities to dance with my husband.

I sing...in the choir and in my car.

I never...wash my hair every day. It dries out. I'm an every other day hair washing girl. I wish I could go longer.

I sometimes...wear makeup. This is new for me. Before bed rest I wore makeup at least 6 days a week. Now, only if I have somewhere to be. It's nice!

I cry...pretty much every day over something. It can be as small as something I see on TV. Hormones.

I am not always...on time. I try to be but especially Sunday mornings I am 90% of the time running late. Recently it is because Oliver knows that I am about to leave and he hides under the table from me so I can't put him in his kennel. He knows I'm slow these days and it's very difficult to catch him.

I lose...sorely. I am competitive and when it comes to games I don't like to lose.

I am confused...about baby scheduling. I have several friends who do Baby Wise and several who don't. And several who use bits and pieces from Baby Wise and other places. I can also see both sides of the argument. I guess we will just have to wait and do what is best for Hudson. I'm guessing that is what all these parents are doing also. Trial and error seems to be a theme in parenting.

I need...a pedicure. I painted my own toenails yesterday...remember I'm almost 37 weeks pregnant!?! They look better than they did but still not great. Just don't get too close. :)

I should...finish reading the baby books before Hudson gets here! I also have other books I would like to read but I am thinking the baby books are more important. :)
