seven.

7 years ago today I married my best friend.

These 7 years have been full of love, joy, laughter, and memories.

It hasn't always been easy or perfect but I would not trade a single day for anything else.

Our lives have changed so much in 7 years. I am in awe of what God has done in our lives.

I love you so much, John. Happy Anniversary. xo

5 Year Coundown: Showers!

Note:  When John and I got married I was not a blogger. I was not and never will be a scrapbooker so this is my way of documenting everything now since our 5 year anniversary is Friday!

By this time, 5 years ago we had already had so many wonderful showers. All of our wedding gifts were carefully packed and ready to be moved to our apartment in Waco when we got back from our honeymoon.

Here is a trip down wedding shower memory lane...

1 week before our wedding we had a couple's shower in Austin. It was so fun because we were so so so close to our wedding!

5 year countdown

Wedding Day

I cannot believe we are nearing our 5 year anniversary.

Not because I feel like we were just engaged. That actually feels like forever ago.

It's funny. 5 years ago if you had asked me where we would be in 5 years this is not where.

I would have bet money that we would have had a kid by now. Or at least one on the way.

We are getting close to that point but we aren't quite ready yet.

I would have bet money that we would live closer to family.

We are at least 2 hours from any family. Specifically about 2 1/2 hours from his family and 6 1/2 hours from mine.

I wouldn't change our life at all. I love our life and I love where we are.

Five years ago we worried about guest lists, honeymoon plans, and the fact that we would both be students after we got married. John starting graduate school and me finishing my bachelor's degree.

Now we worry about flood insurance, hurricane season (we are prepared), and house renovations.

Please note I am not complaining. I KNOW that there are bigger things out there and I realize we are so incredibly fortunate.

I wouldn't trade anything we have. I love my husband today more than I did almost 5 years ago when I said "I do."

I didn't think that was possible.

It is a different kind of love. It is stronger because it has been through very hard times.

We have taken so many trips. I absolutely love traveling with John.

I wasn't really sure where this post would go but I guess it has turned into my thoughts on our lives so far.

Stay tuned for more wedding related posts!

SHOW US YOUR LIFE - Wedding Reception and Honeymoon

**warning: picture overload!**

It's Friday again so that means Kelly's Korner is hosting another blog carnival! Today is wedding receptions and honeymoons.

As my regular readers know, yesterday John and I celebrated 4 fantastic years of wedded bliss! I can't believe 4 years have come and gone. Like many others, there are days where I feel like we are still newlyweds and others where I feel like we have been married for forever. But everyday I am more in love with my husband and love being married to my best friend.

Anyway, back to why you are here! Our wedding reception was at Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas. It was beautiful and perfect. And the food was AMAZING! Once again, not a lot of pictures because our photographer did not shoot in digital, but here are a few I do have.

Wedding Day
Our first dance as man and wife. We danced to The Very Thought of You.

Wedding Day
Cutting John's cake...SO GOOD!

Wedding Day
Friends at our reception!

Wedding Day
Taking a quick break from dancing and talking to eat a quick bite!

Wedding Day
Our friends after we were on our way to The Adolphus where we stayed on our wedding night.

I don't have a picture of it on my computer, but our getaway car was a vintage Rolls Royce.

Our honeymoon was to New York City and it was perfect for us. We stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria. It is such a classic and beautiful hotel. I found out via US Weekly that Angelina Jolie was staying at the Waldorf while we were but we never saw her. It was a fun week, one of the best of my life and I can't wait to go back!

NYC was having a heat wave while we were there. We were hoping to escape the hot August weather in Texas when we headed north for our honeymoon but it was in the 100s and humid!

Honeymoon
In front of the greatest place on Earth!

Honeymoon
We didn't see Donald, but this sure was fancy!

Honeymoon
Dinner in Little Italy. We were walking down the street and just picked a restaurant. It was perfect. We got free dessert and Italian coffee. This is us enjoying our coffee.

Honeymoon
Here is a picture of our room at the Waldorf.

Honeymoon
We became pros at riding the Subway. Also of the self portrait.

Honeymoon
I think this was in the financial district...notice the rose my new hubby gave me!

Honeymoon
Ground Zero

Honeymoon
In Chinatown. Quite the experience. We made the mistake of eating in Chinatown. Never eat in Chinatown. Only shop in Chinatown. And the best way to do that is to follow someone down a dark scary alley, through a random door, down a very long hallway to a door on the left (that isn't marked, looks like all the other doors) and once that door is open the angels start singing all kinds of beautiful designer songs. I got a Coach wallet.

Honeymoon
On top of the Empire State Building. We were encouraged to do this at night and it did not disappoint!

Honeymoon
Unfortunately, while we were honeymooning, Peter Jennings passed away. We saw this tribute to him while exploring the city.

Honeymoon
Dinner inside the beautiful Tavern on the Green before going to see Phantom of the Opera.

Honeymoon
A sweet family that I babysat for during college found out that we had dinner reservations here and called and had our dinner paid for. We didn't know this until the waiter told us after our meal that it had been taken care of by that family. Such a sweet and thoughtful wedding present.
Honeymoon
In Times Square after seeing Phantom.

Honeymoon
In Central Park on our "not pretty" day.

Honeymoon
We decided to hit up TKTS and got tickets for Hairspray.

Honeymoon
Playing on the Big piano in FAO Schwartz. Loved that movie!

Honeymoon
On top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was unbelievably bright!

Honeymoon
We went up there to see this.

Honeymoon
We made dinner reservations at Serendipity 3. The food was fantastic, but the...

Honeymoon
Frozen Hot Chocolate was OUT OF THIS WORLD! There is another dessert on the table but I don't even remember what it was! ha!

Honeymoon
My sweet and thoughtful husband made us reservations for a dinner cruise that went around Manhattan island. It was beautiful, romantic and a very fun evening.

Honeymoon
Dancing on the cruise ship!

Wow, this sure makes me want to travel!

Make sure you head on over to Kelly's Korner to see all the other fabulous receptions and honeymoons.
