**warning: picture overload!**
As my regular readers know, yesterday John and I celebrated 4 fantastic years of wedded bliss! I can't believe 4 years have come and gone. Like many others, there are days where I feel like we are still newlyweds and others where I feel like we have been married for forever. But everyday I am more in love with my husband and love being married to my best friend.
Anyway, back to why you are here! Our wedding reception was at Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas. It was beautiful and perfect. And the food was AMAZING! Once again, not a lot of pictures because our photographer did not shoot in digital, but here are a few I do have.
I don't have a picture of it on my computer, but our getaway car was a vintage Rolls Royce.
Our honeymoon was to New York City and it was perfect for us. We stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria. It is such a classic and beautiful hotel. I found out via US Weekly that Angelina Jolie was staying at the Waldorf while we were but we never saw her. It was a fun week, one of the best of my life and I can't wait to go back!
NYC was having a heat wave while we were there. We were hoping to escape the hot August weather in Texas when we headed north for our honeymoon but it was in the 100s and humid!
Dinner in Little Italy. We were walking down the street and just picked a restaurant. It was perfect. We got free dessert and Italian coffee. This is us enjoying our coffee.
In Chinatown. Quite the experience. We made the mistake of eating in Chinatown. Never eat in Chinatown. Only shop in Chinatown. And the best way to do that is to follow someone down a dark scary alley, through a random door, down a very long hallway to a door on the left (that isn't marked, looks like all the other doors) and once that door is open the angels start singing all kinds of beautiful designer songs. I got a Coach wallet.
On top of the Empire State Building. We were encouraged to do this at night and it did not disappoint!
Unfortunately, while we were honeymooning, Peter Jennings passed away. We saw this tribute to him while exploring the city.
A sweet family that I babysat for during college found out that we had dinner reservations here and called and had our dinner paid for. We didn't know this until the waiter told us after our meal that it had been taken care of by that family. Such a sweet and thoughtful wedding present.
In Times Square after seeing Phantom.
Frozen Hot Chocolate was OUT OF THIS WORLD! There is another dessert on the table but I don't even remember what it was! ha!
Great pics! I want to go back to NYC soon
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had a great time! Sorry you had to find out the hard way that our NE summers are hot and humid - no escape from the heat up here! Next time you come up north, some at in October- it is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband has been in my life for 20+ years and I still feel my heart skip a beat when he walks in the door.
ReplyDeleteI pray that all you ladies have that feel for years to come.
What a beautiful reception ~ the cakes and decorations.
Your honeymoon looks like you had a fantastic time! I would love to go to NYC.
You both look so happy!
These are such great pictures!! My husband proposed to me in New York City, so we have a special place in our hearts for that city! And this is random, but Rebecca Fields was my GrandBig in Phi Lamb at Baylor, and I noticed her in your pictures... small world! :)
