Hudson's 1st day of MDO

Hudson started MDO on Tuesday. The night before I got his lunch all ready. Nothing fancy but things he loves. Peanut butter sandwich, chocolate letter crackers, cheese its, and grapes. He ate all of his grapes, half his sandwich, chocolate crackers, and cheese its.

I also got his first day of school outfit all ready to go!

He was so excited to go to school. It was almost impossible to get him to stop and smile for a picture.

I thought about retaking these front porch pictures but decided to just use them. He was not happy about having his picture made. He was ready to go.

We walked to school (I love living right by the church which is also his school) and he gave Mrs. Kathy (the director) a big hug and then went to his class.

He went right in and never looked back! He was so happy. Which of course made me so happy.

His teachers, Mrs. Mary and Mrs. Kayla, are so sweet and he already loves them.

John came home for lunch that day and went with us to pick him up. Hudson was not ready to go home! I'm so proud of my big boy. I know he is going to do so well in school this year.

While Hudson was at school, I went to the first Moms and More (sort of like MOPS) meeting of the year. John's mom was still in town so she watched Emma at home.

Labor Day weekend with Susu!

John's mom came in town for Labor Day weekend. We had so much fun while she was here and the kids loved the extra attention.

Hudson is so into blocks these days. They are great for building towers and tracks for his cars and trucks.

The kids on Sunday morning before church.

We hit up Steel City Pops for a post-church naps treat.

Lately Emma has been so happy when she wakes up in the mornings. I love it.

On Labor Day, we went to breakfast at Another Broken Egg. We got there around 8:00 which was the perfect time to go. It wasn't busy yet and the kids were happy and hungry. We all shared a bowl of their blackberry grits which were so good.

That afternoon we walked around the block to the Homewood Creamery. Hudson couldn't take his eyes off of his Superman ice cream and Emma couldn't keep her hands out of my ice cream. I love my family.

That night, Hudson worked on his "homework" for school the next day. (More on that later.) He was so focused and loved showing his work to John.

We have been dealing with some major teething. Emma still only has her 2 bottom teeth and her top 4 are all coming in at the same time. I was afraid this would happen. It sucks and she is miserable. 3 of the 4 are so close to breaking the skin and the 4th isn't far behind.

We had a great visit with Susu and loved showing her our new home.

Friday Night Lights!

I can't believe I'm almost totally caught up! 1 week ago we went to the Homewood vs. Vestavia football game. There are lots of students at Dawson who go to both of these schools so it was a great game to go to.

The kids and I only stayed for the tailgate before the game. Emma got lots of attention from Bob and Polly. (Hudson was WAY too busy for pictures.)

John went to the game with friends and they all had a wonderful time.

Maybe next year we can go as a family. But right now with a 2 year old and a 10 month old it's not our idea of a fun activity with them. :)

sick

A couple weeks ago my sweet boy had a horrible fever virus. One minute he was totally fine and the next he had a 103 fever.

We rushed him to the doctor because his temperature spiked so quickly. John is such a great dad. He came with us because he was so worried about his little boy. In this picture we were watching Mickey Mouse on the iPad in the dark in the exam room. Whatever the sick kid wants.

We did lots of laying around watching TV for a few days.

He broke my heart. Thankfully he only had the fever and no other symptoms (besides feeling bad and being fussy).

And sweet Emma was so ready to have her buddy back.

I'm so thankful that Emma stayed well and no one else ever got sick.

wee flip!

A couple weeks ago we tried out the free class that a local kids gym offered with Jen and her kids.

Hudson had a blast with JP and Jocelynn, but he didn't do the best job at listening and doing the scheduled activities. He would much rather just run around and play at his own pace.

Emma was able to do a few things and sweet Maddie just hung out.

I'm not sure if we are going to sign up for regular classes, but they had a lot of fun!

zoo weekend fun

Waiting on daddy to come home one Friday evening. Playing outside on our porch ended up being a good 30 minute activity. :)

After John got home, Eric and Brittany came over with Taziki's for dinner. We put the kids to bed and played Spades. John and Eric also sang a lot which is pretty normal for us.

Saturday morning we got to hang out with E&B again. We met them for brunch at Another Broken Egg. I had the crab cakes benedict and they were amazing.

Then we went to the zoo. Hudson LOVED these photo opp things. Like, he threw a fit when we walked past one because he wanted to look through it.

A little discipline after a long morning.

Feeding the giraffe was probably the highlight of the zoo trip.

Sweet Emma James was at the zoo too, but there isn't a whole lot for a 10 month old at the zoo.

After the zoo we came home and all took long naps. Then we went and did a little shopping and had dinner at Urban Cookhouse.

Emma had chocolate for the first time at Urban Cookhouse. She's been a chocolate lover ever since.

Such a fun weekend!

pancakes, park, and popsicles

A few weeks ago we had a really fun family day involving the letter P. (Not on purpose but it made for a good blog post title.)

We went to breakfast at The Original Pancake House. John had peach pancakes and they were incredible.

Hudson and Emma loved their pancakes!

After naps, we went to the park. Hudson wanted to swing with Emma so this happened. They didn't hate it but they didn't love it either.

My boys.

Then we went to Steel City Pops. Hudson loves popsicles. They are probably his love language right now.
