I still cannot believe it has been 8 years.
I was a freshman living in the dorms at Baylor. I had just gotten out of my public speaking class. I got back to my dorm and one of my friends came running up to me to tell me what had happened. We watched in shock. The rest of the day we could not pull ourselves away from the news.

I was asleep in my new dorm room and a friend called and told me turn on the news. I didn't have to turn to the news, it was on every channel. My family was all far away. My dad was on a super secluded bear hunt in New Mexico and we couldn't get in touch with him. I was enrolled in a voice class at the time, and we sang My Country Tis of Thee through our sobbing. One of my girlfriends kept singing "It's the end of the world as we know it" I just remember a super eerie feeling hanging over us for a few weeks. I can't believe it's been 8 years.
ReplyDeleteI was pregnant with Abby at the time... Kate was already at pre-school for the day. Luke called me and told me to turn on the TV. I watched in utter shock. Then I sat there wondering if I should go and pick up Kate. We didn't know if more attacks were coming, and I so just wanted her near me so I could protect her. I was definitely a feeling I had never had before or since.

I was getting ready for the day, and so was Johnny. He had Good Morning America on the TV in the bedroom where we both were. We were trying to absorb what was happening when the 2nd plane hit. Our kids joined us soon after that. The boys and I spent the day pretty much glued to the news and ditching most of our home school plans. It was just too hard to focus on anything else.
