don't go to the store hungry...
Last night J and I decided to cook dinner rather late. {We went to HEB around 8:00.} We had a list including stuff for tonight's dinner {turkey burgers with sweet potato fries}. When we got to the parking lot of HEB we quickly decided that the shrimp Caesar salad didn't sound quite as good as homemade pizza. So using the iPhone we looked up the ingredients for the crust and sauce and decided what toppings we wanted then headed inside. We started in the produce section making our way towards the meat section. John thought that we might need an appetizer while we waited on our dough to rise and pizza to bake. We got pitas, hummus, and of course lump crab {for Mexican crab dip of course!} We ended up eating our homemade pizza around 10:00pm. Toppings included Italian turkey sausage, sauteed cremini mushrooms and onions on top of a homemade pizza sauce and herb crust. So good! Oh and we watched Lions for Lambs also...rented from the Red Box! Great movie, great concept that Red Box. Whoever came up with that idea was brilliant!

Fun Weekend
Friday night I spent some girl time with my sweet friend Dinah. We had a great time shopping at Old Navy, getting pedicures and dinner at Panda Express.
I got home early and the hubby and I decided to pop some popcorn and we watched Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves! I had noticed earlier in the week it was coming on ABC Family tonight so I set the DVR to record it...love that thing! We spent a wonderful evening eating "Stir Crazy" popcorn and watching this fabulous movie! I hadn't seen it in ages it seems like and I was telling John tonight about the time {right after this movie came out} I dressed up as Maid Marian for Halloween. It was the kind of party where you show up and people have to guess who you are. Well, if you remember, Maid Marian had somewhat frizzy hair so the day of the party I wore TONS of tiny braids in my hair to school to make sure I had the whole outfit perfect for the evening. Everyone at school thought I was going to be Whoopi for Halloween...it was great because I had them so thrown off! Anywho...Friday night prooved to be a great night!
Saturday we slept in! It was so wonderful because we have been in a bad habit of going to bed late {hence my tardiness at work all week} and by the end of the week I was exhausted! We quickly got ready and headed out the door for a full day ahead of us. We had a few errands to run before heading to Courtney's graduation luncheon. She just completed her Master's degree in Speech Pathology! Congrats Court! We left her house and headed to Austin for John's cousin's wedding. The wedding was held at his Aunt and Uncle's house in Manor {just outside of Austin} and it was beautiful. John's cousin is very creative and crafty and designed/built this alter/backdrop thing out of cedar and hung crystals and mini bottles with fresh flowers in it! It was really beautiful. I love spending time with John's family {this was his dad's side}. They are so much fun to be around and they are all so close...I love that! The weather was perfect and I even got to play a couple games of washers! Such a fun wedding!
All in all...great weekend! We didn't bring our camera so no pictures but we had a great time!

Crooked?
Unless you live in a box you know that President Bush's daughter, Jenna, got hitched this weekend in Crawford. Living in Waco it was talked about a lot on Saturday. I was looking forward to seeing pictures of this wedding because all the details were kept so quiet. There hadn't been a wedding in the White House since Trisha Nixon's wedding in the early 70's {which was televised} and Jenna apparently didn't want her wedding on National TV or at the White House! {Can you blame her?!} She also said that they held the wedding in Crawford so that they could go back to where they were married any time. It was a beautiful setting...saying their vows in front of a newly constructed limestone cross as the sun set behind them. Being a foodie and loving to bake I was anxious to see the wedding cake! Sources say it was created by the White House pastry chef. It was a gorgeous 4-tiered cake with fresh flowers...only the top layer looks a little "off." Did anyone else notice the crooked top layer? Was it supposed to be this way? Did they mess up on a White House wedding cake!?!?! What are your thoughts...

Newlyweds for 999 Days
So today, John and I have been married for 999 days which means tomorrow we will have been married for 1,000 days! A couple days ago I decided to check our old wedding website on theknot.com to see if it was still up and it was...and it showed me that we'd been newlyweds for nearly 1,000 days! I'm not sure if we are still considered newlyweds though. 1,000 days seems like such a long time but it's really not even 3 years yet. I will say, this has been the best 1,000 days of my life. I'm so blessed to be married to such a wonderful, caring, and loving man. We have the best time together and some of my favorite times are when we are just hanging out together doing silly things and laughing until it hurts! This is a picture of us from when we were engaged and just a few short months from becoming husband and wife!
