Egg Chair

I just bought this chair...YEAH RIGHT! I wish...it is about $1300! But wouldn't this just be the most fantastic place to curl up and read on a crisp fall day?

Netflix

Last week our friends, the Broaddus' gave us a free one month trial of Netflix. We signed up right away and our first free DVDs were the last 3 discs of Gilmore Girls. I used to watch this show and never saw the end. (By end, I mean I stopped watching and they kept going for about 3 or 4 more seasons.) I was very excited to get to finish the series. Next on our queue was a movie that John had been talking about for years. He'd always mention this movie when I would bring up old classics that I love. Well, as I type right now he's watching this movie.
The Man Who Would Be King is an old movie with Sean Connery and Michael Cain and the dad from The Sound of Music. John realized that about 20 minutes into the movie. I was shocked that he was able to figure it out! I checked out after about 30 minutes...it was a little boring to me, but John loves it!
The next movie we will be watching is The Graduate. I haven't seen this one since high school and have been wanting to see it again for a while now, but Blockbuster did not have it anymore and had no reason to re-stock it. Thanks to Netflix we are able to watch tons of old movies. I love it!

Then after The Graduate we are soooo looking forward to the Helvetica documentary. It's all about the font!! Go here to see the preview. It looks so interesting. I'll let you know how it is.

It's Official!

Fall is finally here and I'm loving it. Last week we could definitely feel the weather changing for fall and it sure did help that Starbucks has their Pumpkin Spice Latte now! In order to celebrate today being the first day of fall, I'm planning on enjoying a Pumpkin Spice Latte! If only our trees actually acknowledged fall here in Texas...

Remember my post about Sarah Palin looking way too much like Tina Fey? Well, NBC stole my thoughts! Enjoy this clip that I'm sure most of you have already seen.

In the Bathroom with Bob Marley

We were doing a little touch up painting on Saturday. (By we I mean John, of course.) I was in the kitchen probably popping some popcorn. John is back in our bathroom and calls for me to come quickly. I assume he has dripped some paint on the floor and needs me to help him clean it up quickly. Obviously I was wrong. He got bored with the extra paint and made mirror art.

Sunset Colors Are Caused By Pollution

Saturday evening John and I got some excellent Italian food take out for dinner (from Baris) and rented a movie and sat down on the couch to enjoy a relaxing evening. He had been working very hard for the past 2+ days at church helping with the Ike evacuees and it was so wonderful to have him home. As we were sitting down I noticed the gorgeous sunset outside. You will have to ignore the power lines, but you can see how gorgeous the sky was. There was also a full rainbow that we saw driving home, but didn't get a picture of it.

**The title of the post comes from my husband, John. I asked him for a title for this post and he said, "Sunsets colors are caused by pollution. I heard that one time." Even if this was caused by pollution, I'd like to think that God calls all things to work together for good. At least that's what Joel Osteen said. He also said I'd be rich, but no luck.

Yikes, Ike!

We live in Waco, approximately 235 miles from the Texas coast, so we're not in the "danger zone." However today after work I decided I needed to make a quick stop at HEB just in case we lose power or something from this crazy storm. I knew the grocery stores would be super crowded so I decided to stop at the HEB that is just a couple blocks from Baylor. I thought it might not be as bad but boy was I wrong! Because it is a much smaller HEB it was insanely crowded. I bought a couple things we needed that we were just out of (shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper) and also some bread, peanut butter, etc. I had less than 10 items in my basket and was in that store for over an hour! It was insanely crazy.

Our church in Hamilton is currently a shelter for evacuees. John is there right now and will be through the weekend helping serve the people who are fleeing the storm. I may join him tomorrow when I get off work at 5:00.

My prayers are with all of you in Houston and close to the coast. "Hunker down" and stay safe.

A random note: I am currently cleaning out our dvds, vhs tapes, and old recorded tapes. Ironically, I just put one in that I recorded 3 years ago, exactly. It is the 20th season premiere of Oprah and the commercials are talking about Texans preparing for Hurricane Rita. (Yes, the Oprah with Jennifer Aniston). Weird...

A funny note: I kid you not, but this is directly from weather.com. "The local National Weather Service office for the Houston area has issued a strongly worded warning for the coastal areas from Matagorda to Galveston, saying life-threatening water inundation is likely during high tide. It goes on to say, "Persons not heeding evacuation orders in single-family one- or two-story homes will face certain death." "

"will face certain death"...WHAT? Seriously they put that...don't believe me, go here.

Fortunately for us here in Central Texas the forecasters are saying that the storm may be moving more east.

Don't I Look Good?!

A HUGE thank you to Kelly at Fabulous K for giving me a whole new blog makeover! She does fabulous work and I'm so happy with how it turned out! Thank you so much Fabulous K!!
