Emma :: 3 months old

My sweet Emma James,

You are 3 months old today! It is SO true that the 2nd baby seems to grow up so much faster. This has been a great month for you. Your daddy, brother, and I are absolutely crazy about you. You have the sweetest little personality. Hudson adores you and loves to give you kisses. You are beautiful!

I love having you and your brother so close in age. There are difficult days but I think that could be said about any age difference. You and Hudson will never know life without the other one. You will be such great friends and I love that.

You sleep GREAT! With Hudson he had to have a lot of "help" in this department. You really don't need much help at all. This month you really started sleeping through the night. We started putting you to bed around 8:30 and slowly pushed it to 7:00 and most nights you will sleep until 6:00 or 7:00 the next morning. If you do wake up it is usually around 3:00 and you will nurse for about 10 minutes and go right back to sleep. You are now taking most of your naps in your crib and doing great. You nap around 8:30, 11:00, and 2:00.

You started going into the church nursery this month and you are finally taking a bottle!! I am SO SO happy about this! You don't love the bottle but you will sort of play with it until you are hungry enough to take it.

You are such a happy baby! I love going to get you out of your crib in the mornings. You are SO smiley! Speaking of that smile...you have what I call your cheerleader smile. It's so big and cheesy! I love it! You do wake up like your daddy. Slowly. You like to lay in your crib for a while and slowly wake up. You don't want to eat right away either. It's so funny how you are so much like him in that way. Your brother wakes up just like me...ready to go!

You've started cooing so much. I love having little conversations with you. I can't wait until you are older and we get to have real conversations! You have also found the fan. That will hold your attention for about 10 minutes.

Your head control is getting so much better. Tummy time still isn't your favorite activity. You will usually just find your fist and suck on that. You don't hate it but you're just sort of lazy with it. You RARELY take a paci. I try all the time and it's just not your favorite thing. When you do take one you will use a Wubbanub. But you won't take a regular Soothie paci. You're picky. :)

Emma James, we love you so very much. I can't wait to watch you continue to learn, grow, and develop.

Love,
Mommy

We found this precious easel at IKEA for only $15 and had to get it for Hudson and (one day) Emma.

Hudson loves it! He understood right away what to do with it.

We keep it in the laundry room so we can keep it away from any furniture that might get confused for a chalkboard.

For $15 this is a really great easel!

Playdates with Rix

We try to get together with Erin and Rix every week for a little play date. Hudson always has a blast and these 2 are always so sweet together.

I love that they are holding hands in this one!

Topher's Birthday

New Year's Day is also my nephew, Topher's birthday. So after spending some time with Uncle Mark and Aunt Betsy we went over to PJ's to see Topher and Ellie (and of course Scott and Melanie) one last time before we all went back home. We got a pretty sweet picture of PJ with his grandbabies.

New Years Eve and Day

This year would have been mine and John's 10th New Year's Eve to spend together but he was in Alabama at a wedding. This was our first one since we've been dating that we weren't together. Oh well. :) I had a pretty yummy feast that I got to share with my mom!

We had spanokopita cups, roasted red pepper cheesecake, manchego cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, and cranberry brie bites. Yum! I'll share the recipes later.

Even though we were really missing John I am so thankful and blessed that I got to start my New Year with these 2 littles.

Getting a "perfect" picture of them together is SO rare these days but the ones I do get perfectly capture life with two kids under 2.

their shirts are {of course} by Pumpkin Butter Kids

Uncle Mark and Aunt Betsy came by on New Year's Day to visit with us. Hudson and Uncle Mark enjoyed watching some Bob the Builder together on Hudson's iPad.

And Aunt Betsy and I are starting Emma off right by watching the Beverly Hills, 90210 marathon that was on. :)

Starstruck

Hudson has recently discovered Bob the Builder and he loves him. Not quite as much as Yo Gabba Gabba but he will ask for "Bob" on occasion. When he saw Bob at the play area in the mall he got so excited.

I love this picture. He's just studying him.

We didn't even have to pay any money to make this digger move. He was happy just looking at Bob and moving the wheel.

Trains at NorthPark

While we were in Dallas we took Hudson to see the trains at NorthPark. He did not want to be held or in the stroller so we chased him around the whole time. He was still a little too young to really get super excited about it but he enjoyed looking at them a little.

"Sledding"

The day after Christmas John took Hudson "sledding" behind my mom's house. He preferred this much better than walking around in the snow.

I love these boy so much!

We didn't realize it but Oliver snuck through my mom's fence! Thankfully we didn't have to chase him and he came right back.

Christmas with PJ

We went over to my dad's for Christmas dinner. Here are all of the grandkids :)

Hudson's First Snow

Hudson got to experience snow for the first time while we were in McKinney for Christmas. He wasn't sure what to think about it at first.

It seemed like he liked it when he first saw it.

He started walking on the driveway and it wasn't so bad.

Then he went onto the grass.

AND HATED IT!!!!!

It was hard for him to walk in because it was so deep. He was so mad!

But how sweet is this face???

Christmas Morning

We were EXHAUSTED on Christmas morning. We got to McKinney around 2am and Hudson went right back to sleep when we got there but it took almost 2 hours to get Emma back down. So John and I were going on about 4 hours of sleep. I also did a horrible job this year taking pictures of everything. I'm so mad I didn't get a family picture of the 4 of us. Oh well. We had a wonderful time.

Emma got lots of sweet cuddles from Uncle Coach.

Hudson was very excited about his new Thomas DVD.

My sweet precious girl's first Christmas.

Little drummer boy :)

Hudson got Thomas rain boots and he LOVED them. They were perfect for playing in the snow too!

Emma snoozing on Wrigley with Aunt Whit.

This is probably one of my favorite pictures of Hudson. Such a perfect Christmas morning picture. Christmas jams, funny hat, and riding his new plasma car.

John enjoyed Hudson's new blocks more than Hudson did that morning.
