Thoughts

I can't sleep. John is out of town this week (and by out of town I mean he is an hour away in Hamilton) for Summer Music Camp. I know he is going to have an amazing week but also an exhausting week. He works so hard and is so passionate about what he does and I love him for that. We leave a week from today for our vacation to New York. Excitement cannot begin to explain it. I went to McKinney this weekend to help my parents move. I love their new house/neighborhood/town! My family has lived in McKinney for 17 years. (Wow, has it really been that long?) They found a house in a small town outside of McKinney that they fell in love with. I love it too. It is quiet in Fairview. Feels like you are out in the country without being "out in the country." Currently I'm enjoying a cup of tea so it might help me get tired. Friday night on my way up to McKinney/Fairview I stopped at Sur la Table (one of my absolute favorite stores ever) and finally spent a gift card I've had since Christmas on a tea kettle. I have been trying to decide exactly what tea kettle I want for about 3 years now. I know, a pretty lame thing that should not have taken so long to make a decision. I was going back and forth between a Le Creuset or OXO. I went with the Le Creuset. I got the Halo style in Caribbean. I'm so happy with my new tea kettle and have used it 4 times already. I'm tired now and I'm sure you are too from reading of all the random thoughts going through my head...good night.

Another Movie Review

Do you remember the feeling you had the first time you saw Grease? Last night I felt like a 6-year-old girl again with curly brown pigtails and all I wanted to do was stand up and sing and dance at the top of my lungs! Mamma Mia was FABULOUS!

Meryl Streep can sing...wow! I am always pleasantly surprised when a really wonderful actor can also sing. It takes their credibility way up for me. I love it when I see a movie and I can tell the actors really are having a great time and having so much fun. Watching Meryl with her two girlfriends made me want to jump on a plane to Greece with my girlfriends! And speaking of Greece, WOW - unbelievably gorgeous!

I also decided that I want hair like Sophie. Beautiful.

And what I heard about Pierce Brosnan not being able to sing was so true. I almost couldn't control my laughter when he sang that first duet with Meryl. His poor face was so intense and it is not an intense movie! His other two songs towards the end were not as bad.

Excellent summer movie!

PS: I also laughed uncontrollably when the guys were dancing on the dock in their speedos and flippers while Sky and Sophie were singing on the beach...oh cheesy musical movies!

14 DAYS

Exactly 14 days until John and I leave for vacation to New York! To say we are excited is an understatement. John deserves this vacation way more than I do. This week he has a conference at Baylor he is working at and presenting at and next week is Summer Music Camp at church. I'm excited to get some time with my hubby! While we are there we will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary! I can't believe 3 years ago we were in the last minute planning of our wedding. Crazy how fast the time flies. Oh and we will be in Upstate New York. For our honeymoon we went to New York City so I'm excited to see the other part of the state. 14 DAYS!

My Thoughts on The Dark Knight

First, I would like to say that this movie was brilliant and it is so sad that Heath Ledger's life was cut short because there is a huge potential for greatness that has been lost. His performance was one that would have defined his career. Jack Nicholson was good, but Heath Ledger was better...way better. Ledger's Joker made Nicholson's Joker look simply like a clown.

Oh, and I also loved Aaron Eckhart's portrayal of Harvey Dent. I'm really starting to love Aaron Eckhart as an actor. First as George in Erin Brockovich then in Thank You for Smoking and now The Dark Knight. He's one I hope we will be seeing more of.

Maggie Gyllenhaal did a much better job playing Rachel Dawes than Katie Holmes in Batman Begins.

The movie as a whole was excellent. Extremely violent but not bloody. I give it an A-. The only reason I give it an A- is because I got annoyed with Batman's technologically altered voice. Next on my list of movies to see, Mamma Mia. My sister said it was awesome. I heard the only bad thing about this movie was that Pierce Brosnan can't sing. {It's a musical...}

4th of July Weekend

A little late...but better late than never, right? We had a wonderful time at the river down at John's family's ranch. It was so beautiful down there, much prettier than I imagined. I learned how to ride a dirt bike and shoot a shot gun {a 12 gauge no less}! Enjoy these pictures...
"The Big Rock" {As kids, they used to swim under this rock and jump off of it.}
Riding dirt bikes with Spencer
Shooting skeet
Spencer, John and Sara being, well, silly for lack of a better word
Spencer's really big cowboy/river hat. {Funny story...John's cousin's husband bought this same hat at some random store on the way also!}

John playing frisbee with the guysWe bought honey on our way home and it is so good!

The Ranch

Tomorrow evening John and I are heading down to Uvalde to the Dry Frio River to spend the 4th of July weekend there with his family. His dad's side of the family almost owns this river and has for many many years. Unfortunately, I've never been. John and I have been together for about 5 1/2 years and married for almost 3 years and this weekend will be my "maiden voyage" to "The Ranch". To say I am looking forward to this is an understatement. The Ranch has been a huge part of his family for years and I'm thrilled to be able to experience it and be a part. I've been told that there will be about 40 family members there which is another part I'm really looking forward to. My family isn't that big and we don't get together like that except for weddings so it will be so much fun to be around all that family. It is going to be a wonderful weekend and it will be capped off with John's 25th birthday on Monday! It will be a great way to celebrate 25 years! I'll post when we get back with pictures. Happy 4th!

What did one flag say to the other flag?Nothing. It just waved!
