Prime-time

Can I just say, I'm so glad prime-time Thursdays are back! Network tv, non-reality shows, juicy well-written, made up story lines are the best! I crave Thursday nights! Ok, maybe I'm going a little too far, but The Office, Lost, Grey's Anatomy and Ugly Betty make me so happy! Last night was great. John and I went to some friend's house to watch the line-up. I ended up only seeing the beginning of Grey's and Betty, but you better believe I didn't miss a second of The Office or Lost. I've recently become obsessed with Lost! Back at the beginning of March I was sick with strep and since there wasn't much to watch on tv during the day I started watching Lost online and getting caught up. Well, I became hooked and couldn't help but fall in love with the characters, plot twists, cliff hangers, and suspense! I finished getting caught up last week just in time for the new episode last night. I love it! I'll leave you with this quote from last night. {Probably my favorite quote of the night}

Pam: Actually, it's kind of too bad we're not coming into work tomorrow.
Oscar: Why?
Pam: I bet Michael had some elaborate theme party planned like scrambled eggs Saturday.
Toby: More like everyone get your boss laid Saturday. {Toby rubs Pam's knee and an awkward moment ensues}
Toby: I have an announcement, uh, to make. I am moving to Costa Rica. Thought about it for a long time now, and I'm finally gonna do it. So... I'm just gonna hop the fence and jog home now. {runs out through door, through the parking lot and jumps the fence}

May 09

I have been saying that simple phrase a lot lately. "May 09" has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? In 1 short year, 2 short semesters, and many papers, tests, orals and recitals John will graduate from grad school!!! I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. On August 22, 2005, just 2 short weeks after we got married, John started working on his Master of Music and Master of Divinity degrees from Baylor and Truett Seminary. It feels like forever ago but at the same time these {almost} 3 years have gone by so fast. He has finished all of his music classes and has only Truett classes left. I can't believe that John has 5 classes left, 3 in the fall, 2 in the spring. I don't imagine a lot of down time though, as he will be preparing for orals and his conducting recital, but knowing that his "class time" will be light is a wonderful thought.

This weekend John had his last concert of his school career! It's weird that he is done with all of his music classes and choir but that is only another reminder that he is getting so close to the end. I am so proud of my husband. He has worked so hard these past 3 years. His dedication to school and what he is doing amazes me every day. If you were to relate his grad career to baseball...he is on 3rd base, rounding into home! I'm not much of a baseball person so I'm really not sure where that analogy came from...sorry!

music, movie & mustard, OH MY!

Today at church our childrens' choirs sang throughout the whole service and then had a party afterward with hot dogs, popcorn, and Monster's Inc. John has always worked so hard with the children and the music ministry. In order to have the best turnout possible he sent home a note with the kids after the Wednesday evening activities this past week which said that if there were over 50 kids who came to sing in church then they could turn him into a human hot dog. {He said he was willing to do anything to get that many kids there!} Well, of course there were over 50 kids and John began regretting his promise he had made! {For those of you who don't know, John HATES ketchup...I mean HATE. When he was in college his fraternity brothers covered his car in ketchup. His hatred for ketchup began when his dad used to suck ketchup from the little packets in the car...gross!} Of course, there was no way he was getting out of it. So towards the end of the movie, he went to go change clothes and fashioned a dew rag out of a yellow trash bag. I had made some "ponchos" for the kids to put on out of trash bags so that their clothes could be as protected as possible from the flying ketchup and mustard they would be squirting at John. We lined the kids up and marched them outside in pairs {each pair had one bottle of either ketchup or mustard} and John laid down preparing for what was to come. Let's just say, ketchup and mustard ended up in some places you would not want it! Enjoy these pictures!

check out the little girl's face in the background!

giving up!

"here, you missed a spot..."

"what was i thinking??"

this is probably my favorite!

the final product...he kept saying the whole way home {after a 20 minute shower at church} "i can still smell it on me!"

Love you John!!

Question of the Day

I get several random questions everyday but today this was by far the most random and my favorite question. Let me act it out for you...
9:30 am - Phone rings.
Me: "Good morning, Student Activities. This is Lindsay."
Prospective Student {refered to as PS}: "Hi, there is an activity tomorrow and I want to go."
Me: "Ok, do you know what the activity is or who is sponsoring it?"
PS: "MOM...What's that thing called? Oh, I think it's something about 'I Know Where I'm Going.' or something like that."
Me: "Ok, let me transfer you to Admissions."
PS: "Thanks so much!" {insert high school girl giggling}
My two favorite things about this call where telling Student Activities that she wanted to attend the activity tomorrow...um, hello, there are so many! And then, this little prospective high school student proceeds to shout out to Mom to remind her why she is making this call.
I love my job!!
