random pictures from the last few days

Pretty creative title, huh? :)

Emma got this baby stroller for her birthday and loves it!

Last week we had some AWESOME fall weather! I loved seeing my guy in his new fall clothes. He was also so proud of his "pupa" (pumpkin) sticker from church on Wednesday night.

Emma wakes up SO HAPPY! I love coming in to this sweet smile every morning.

For the last few weeks Hudson has been putting change into this bank for church. He doesn't fully understand why he's doing it but he gets so excited. I pray that he always has such a giving heart.

Hudson loves pumpkins right now. He asks several times a day to go sit on the front steps with the "pupas."

Fridays are John's day off and they are such a fun family day for us. They all usually start off like this and I love it so much.

Friday night after the fall festival my guys were sharing a CFA sandwich on the couch. Love my boys!

John has become the unofficial nail clipper in our house which I'm happy for him to have that title. For some reason when he does it the kids like it??? He makes everything fun. Emma also smiles when he suctions her nose! He's seriously got a magic touch.

Another request to go outside with the pupas resulted in Hudson breaking the stem off of one of them.

But it turned out to be a pretty good soccer ball.

We spent a lot of time on Saturday in the backyard. Emma was walking all over the place eating dirt (obviously).

I love my silly boy SO much.

I thought my minis looked so adorable on Sunday. Emma actually left her bow in for 5 minutes!

Emma's 12 month check up

Emma had her 12 month check up last week. My mom was in town so she was able to keep Hudson at home so it was just me and my girl.

While we waited on Dr. Hale she was busy trying to put her shoes on. She is such a chatterbox already and says "shoos" when she sees her shoes.

Emma's official 12 month stats:

weight: 20 pounds 2 ounces (20th percentile)
height: 29 inches (50th percentile)
head circumference: 17 3/4 inches (50th percentile)

Hudson's adventure with E&B

The morning of Emma's birthday party, E&B offered to take Hudson out to do some fun things but also get him out of the house for us while we got ready for her party. Love them.

Hudson LOVED going on an adventure with E&B. They took him to breakfast and he got pancakes and bacon.

Hudson really wanted to go to the park but since it had rained that morning, E&B took him to play at CFA. Our good friend happened to be working that day. ;)

And because he hadn't been spoiled enough, they took him to Barnes n Noble where he got to play and read books. They got him this awesome Dora book which has quickly become his favorite book ever.

Thank you E&B for loving our kids so much. They adore y'all!

our first Dawson fall festival!

Our church had their fall festival on Friday night so my little farmer and pig got all ready in their adorable costumes and showed their excitement for the event. ;)

Hudson is getting good at cooperating for pictures. Getting him to smile is another thing. But he will sit and do what he's asked. Except smile.

Now that Emma is pretty much a full time walker things are more difficult with her. As you can see...she wanted no part in sitting on the steps and taking a picture.

We spent most of our time in the FRC (family recreation center) which is where all the inflatables were. Hudson and Emma both enjoyed this little bounce house. It had a small slide which Hudson loved. It was Emma's first time in a bounce house!

John and and Justin (who is one of the recreation ministers) with their sweet babies. Will was the cutest giraffe.

Emma's favorite part was just being able to walk around the huge open space.

That's my fearless 2 year old flying down the huge slide! He did this probably 30 times and cried huge alligator tears when we left.

He's the one in the middle climbing up all by himself!

Again, Emma was just as happy as can be.

Outside there were lots of carnival type games and rides. Hudson did a couple of the games but they were all a little too big for him but he did love this mini carousel.

We had such a fun night. It was FREEZING outside which is so different for us! Usually we are hot and sweaty at fall festivals in Texas!

Homestead Hollow

A couple weeks ago we went to Homestead Hollow. It was such a fun day! Hudson and Emma had a blast running around, eating way too many sweets at 10am, and just being outside.

Hudson loved the turkeys. I hadn't adjusted my camera settings when I took this picture but I love his face! He was so excited.

Emma's first taste of a caramel apple! This girl has never met a sweet she didn't like so of course she loved this.

Hudson held onto the horse's mane so if he's ever on a real horse we will need to teach him the proper  place to hold on. :)

We are so thankful for Eric and Brittany and the wonderful friends they are to us!

Such a fun fall day!

Emma James's 1st Birthday Pumpkin Party!

Last weekend we had Emma's 1st birthday party! I knew I wanted to do a pumpkin theme since her birthday is in October and it would be so easy to find stuff.

Here is the food table. I covered the table with fabric and then a burlap runner I already had. We had chicken salad sandwiches on croissants, fruit, Mediterranean couscous salad, pigs in a blanket, hummus, pita, veggies, and pumpkin cupcakes. Oh and beautiful iced sugar cookies!

I used acrylic paint to paint her monogram on a pumpkin for the table.

For her monthly pictures I just covered a canvas we already had hanging in the dining room with orange fabric. Then I used a burlap garland I got for 40% off at Hobby Lobby to attach her pictures to. Easy.

The amazing iced sugar cookies by The Doughmestic Housewife.

Her high chair. This was very easy to do. Ribbon, super glue, and a couple of hours during nap time.

Hudson had so much fun with all of Emma's new toys.

The sweet birthday girl! Her dress is by SheShe Made.

With "Aunt" Brittany. Brittany and Eric have become our family in Birmingham. We are so thankful for B&E!

With Lady!

I was so excited that Jen and her family were able to come. I love how Maddie and Emma were just starring at each other.

Our sweet little family.

And the best picture we got with Lady.

The sweet birthday girl loving her new chair from B&E.

Everyone was SO sweet and some people even gave Hudson a small toy. He loved this John Deere flashlight from Mr. Matt.

I'm pretty sure Emma's favorite gift was this teddy bear from Dr. Bob and Mrs. Polly.

The week before her party she got really good at walking and got to show off her skills to all of her party guests.

It's a shame she doesn't have much of a personality.

Let's be clear. She's a 2nd child. Hudson had cake for the first time at his birthday party. He had chocolate and peanut butter for the first time at almost 18 months. Emma had chocolate at 9 months and peanut butter at 11 months and has already had more than enough cake. So this wasn't anything new for her. But still adorable. :)

We let Hudson blow out her candle.

Emma is so good at sharing.

We have almost the same picture from Hudson's 1st birthday.

Our new friends JP and Lindsey. They just got married a few weeks ago!

Hudson's favorite person is probably Uncle E. Seriously, he would rather be with him than John or me.

New toys are so exciting for all!

SO exhausted after a big day.

Happy birthday Emma James. We love you SO much.
