Hudson is "sick" for the first time. I use the quotes because he doesn't have a fever and he's still his very happy self. He has a horrible cough though and is congested.
I took him to the doctor this morning because I'm a first time mom who wanted to make sure my baby was okay. I knew he didn't have a fever and she confirmed what I was hoping...just a little cold. Unfortunately (and fortunately I guess) he is to young for any medicine for what he has.
So we are using the humidifier and booger sucker and keeping him comfortable. She also suggested raising his crib on one side to keep his head elevated but that won't work with my little wiggle worm. He moves all over his crib at night so he could end up with his feet higher than his head.
And this afternoon I spilled an entire bottle of Infant Tylenol on the floor of Hudson's nursery. I'm so glad that we have hardwood floors.
Oh and my little 5 1/2 month old weighs 17 pounds 3 ounces!
After his appointment we went and picked up lunch to take to John at church.
And he cut his first tooth last week. We had no idea because he wasn't fussy at all. It came in on Tuesday and Thursday (Thanksgiving day) he started to get a little fussy from it.
I've got to get better about blogging...this is my 4th post this month and it's almost over.

Baylor Homecoming 2011
Baylor Homecoming is one of our favorite traditions every year. This year we couldn't wait to bring Hudson. Despite being completely off schedule and staying up very late every night, he did great!
Friday we got to campus and the Baylor Bookstore was our first stop. Then we went by Student Activities (where I used to work) to visit friends there. We walked around campus and made our way over to Truett Seminary so John could visit some old professors. It was a fun afternoon without anything on our agenda.
Then we headed over to John's aunt's house. Sandra got Hudson the most adorable Baylor beanie. He looked so cute and I was so glad to have a new one because the one he had was a newborn size and didn't fit well anymore.
Friday night we went to dinner with our friends the Bradleys. Hudson took about 1/2 an ounce from a bottle and then fell asleep. We didn't bring his car seat in so we laid him down on the booth and our little tummy sleeper was so content. :)
Saturday morning we were up early for the parade. Stacy (John's cousin) and little boy Hagen (8 months) were in town and it was so fun for Hudson and Hagen to meet.
Practicing his "Sic 'em Bears!"

John's dad and stepmom came down for the parade so Hudson got lots of Pop Pop love!
I got emotional when the parade started. I was holding Hudson and watching the band and the tears just started. I may be just a tad hormonal still. :)
This was Spencer and Sandra's 40th reunion from Baylor! (have I mentioned before that they are twins?)
One of my favorite parts about Homecoming is walking around the parade to see all of our friends. I just wish I had taken more pictures with everyone! Here we are with the Kriegels.
Courtney and I with Hudson and Ethan. How cute is Ethan's bear hat??? Love.
John and Patrick with their boys.
After the parade we went to Cafe Cappuccino for breakfast. I had my usual egg white omelette with a banana pecan pancake. Heaven. Hudson napped. :)
After an afternoon nap at Sandra's we went to the tailgate and football game. Ethan grabbed a huge piece of sausage off of Courtney's plate and went to town! It was so cute.
Hudson's first time at a Baylor football game. And we won! Sic 'em! He loved it because there were so many things to look at.
And another nap to help him stay up later.
Awake and ready to cheer!
We got these adorable stickers from some friends at the game...he looked too cute!
We left during halftime because he just couldn't last much longer.
We tired to get a family picture in the parking lot...this was the best one. :)
We can't wait for next year!

11:11 on 11-11-11
Today is 11-11-11! And I'm a dork who made sure this post published at 11:11. :) A few random things going through my head today.
1. I've had a few emails and tweets about Hudson's clothes in his 5 month post. His shirt is from Pumpkin Butter Kids. Ashley's stuff is ADORABLE and she's so good! I'm talking with her now about some more fun things! His pants are Mini Boden.
2. We are getting Hudson one of the Anywhere Chairs from Pottery Barn Kids for Christmas. Those of y'all who have them...did you get the smaller or bigger one? How did you decide which one to get? I can't decide.
3. I haven't seen any of the Twilight movies (or read the books for that matter) but the new trailer that is out right now is almost making me want to go see it. But I'd have to watch the previous 2 movies and I'm not sure if I want to see it that bad.
4. I'm going to make these cupcakes today. Several blog/twitter friends have made them and say they are good. I'm excited. :)
5. Hudson is SO MUCH FUN right now. I had bunco last night so John and Hudson had daddy/son bonding time. Hudson usually gets pretty fussy right before he eats before bed and he didn't last night. John said he was just perfect. I love that! This is such a great age!
6. I think I want a Keurig. John doesn't think we "need" one but I think I really want one. We have the Cuisinart Grind & Brew coffee maker which is awesome but I love the idea of the Keurig. Those of y'all who have one...thoughts?
7. I got my first Birchbox on Wednesday and I'm already loving it! It's such a fun mix of goodies and I've already used 3 out of 5 of the products. So fun!
8. A few weeks ago we put away Hudson's swing and I think the bouncy seat isn't far behind. He just doesn't like it anymore and arches his back when he's in it. It's so sad that my baby is growing up so fast!
9. I still need to post about our weekend in Waco last week for Homecoming. We had the best time!
10. Thanksgiving is less than 2 weeks away...WHAT?? That means 2 weeks from today it's okay to decorate for Christmas. I like to focus on one holiday at a time. I do wish that there was a little more time between Thanksgiving and Christmas so I could have my decorations up longer. 1 month and 1 week isn't enough. :)
Happy Friday!

Hudson :: 5 Months Old
My Sweet Hudson,
How in the world are you 5 months old? 5 MONTHS! It's so crazy to me that I have a baby who is almost 1/2 a year old! However old you are, your daddy and I fall more in love with you every single day. You are SO easy right now. You traveled for 4 days this past weekend and you were an angel baby. You stayed up late every night, got very few naps and still did so well. I love this age because you are so fun and have such a sweet personality but you aren't quite mobile yet. Although we think crawling might be just around the corner for you!
You are rolling all over the place! We will put you down in one spot and you can be several feet away in seconds. You also are starting to pull your knees under you when you are on your tummy. You kick and move your arms and legs so fast like you are swimming. You are just so ready to take off!
You still have not tried any food yet. Your pediatrician told us to wait until 6 months and you seem to be doing great still just nursing.
You are also sitting up! Tuesday you sat for 30 seconds before falling over...today for almost 2 minutes! I got about a minute and a half on video. You prefer to be in an upright sitting or standing position. We have been working on sitting so much the past couple of weeks!
You still love Sophie and your new talking dancing puppy. You love your Baby Einstein jumperoo and a few colorful toys. Your mobile is still a favorite but we don't leave it on your crib anymore. We just put it up when we want you to play.
You are a full out finger sucker. You will suck on your right pointer and middle fingers and it's the sweetest thing ever. You will still take a paci but very rarely. You drool and chew on things like crazy. You constantly have your hands in your mouth but you don't have any teeth yet.
This week you have been napping SO well! Tuesday you took a 2 hour morning nap, a 2 hour afternoon nap and about a 30-45 minute catnap. It's been so nice to have you napping so well this week since I wasn't feeling good at the beginning of the week.
Speaking of sleep...we get a lot! You go to bed between 7:00-7:30 and don't make a peep until 7:00-7:30 the next morning. Except for last night...around 11:30 you woke up crying which you haven't done in 2 months. We went in to check on you and changed your diaper. You were so squirmy so we checked your temperature (normal) so I just nursed you and you went back to sleep. I secretly enjoyed it and it reminded me of your earlier days. Not that I'm wanting you to go back. :) When you do wake up in the mornings you just talk in your crib until we come get you. I love it. The time change on Sunday did not mess up your sleep at all. I was worried you would wake up earlier but you didn't!
You had your first REAL belly laugh on Monday night (11-7-11) but it was while I was giving you a bath and didn't have the video camera with me. You've been giving us little chuckles for about a month now but this was your first full out belly laugh. You are so animated! You make the best faces. You are definitely your father's son.
You are grabbing at everything! You really love noses and mommy's hair. But you will grab at toys on your jumperoo and on your car seat.

Sadly, we put away your swing this month. You just did not care about it anymore. You would much rather be playing on the floor or in your jumperoo.
Sweet boy...you make our lives so much sweeter. You are joyful and we love every second with you.
Love,
Mommy
