Emma :: 7 months old

Dear Emma James,

You are 7 months old! We can't believe how fast this year is going. You are such a joy and always so happy. We love you more and more every day and you seem to change so much all the time. 

The biggest change this month was starting on solids. We first tried the Baby Led Weaning approach around 6 1/2 months but you were such an aggressive eater it made me too nervous. So I got out the food processor and started making you baby food like I did with Hudson and you've been a great eater. We started solids with you later than we did with Hudson only because of some traveling we did right around the time you turned 6 months. You've had sweet potatoes, butternut squash, peas, green beans, bananas, pears, apples, and oatmeal. You love food and eat 3 meals of solids a day. 

You are still not really close to crawling at all. You prefer to be sitting and will sit and happily play with your toys right around you. If you are on your tummy you will just kick your legs and not really try to get up into crawling position. You will roll to get something you want if you need to but you seem pretty content to just stay where you are. 

Our new battle this month has been over bows. Almost as soon as it's on top of your head, you yank it down and start chewing on it. You can get a bow and headband so wet with drool so fast. The bow battle is one I'm going to keep fighting...you just look too cute in them!

You still don't have any teeth yet. You are always chewing on things and drooling but I really don't think that has anything to do with teething right now. I can't even see any teeth about to pop through so right now you are happy just putting anything and everything in your mouth. Your favorite toys are Sophie, foam bath letters, and the Manhattan Toys loopy ball things. (Not really sure what to call those!)

You have dropped down to nursing just 4 times a day and taking 2 naps. I LOVE this schedule so so so much! I remember when Hudson went to nursing 4 times and 2 naps and how it just made our day seem not so tied down. You nurse at 7, 11, 3, and 7 and take a morning nap from 9:00 until around 10:00 or 10:30 and then go down in the afternoon at 1:00 when your brother does. You will sleep 1 1/2 - 2 hours which means I get that much time alone in the afternoons. 

You still LOVE your paci and have that thing in your mouth about 85% of the day. I think at 8 months we will try to start limiting your time with that. I know you love it but I don't want you to constantly have to have it in your mouth, especially at 1 year. I'm all talk right now...who knows how you will respond to this! :)
