Hudson's First Trip to the Promise Land

Last month (I can't believe it's been a month already!) we went to Waco. It was Hudson's first road trip when he was only 5 weeks old. John had a conference to attend at Baylor so Hudson and I tagged along. I was so excited to have some extended time in Waco and take Hudson to see our beloved Baylor for the first time,

After a nursing stop Hudson got to "drive" for the first time. Also, please ignore the missing leather from the center console. And the hospital cup. Yes, my baby is 9 1/2 weeks old and I still use it.

First time in the pack & play. It was also his first time sleeping in the same room as us. We all did good but much better when he is in his own room!

Meeting Dr. Terry York, one of John's professors while he was in seminary and grad school. Hudson spit up on him and John was so thankful that he had already graduated!

Meeting Hannah...I used to baby sit her and her brother and now she is going to be a senior in h.s. this year!

One night we met our very dear friends the Johnsons and Mark Giles for dinner at Chuy's. Unfortunately Carla couldn't make it.

We got to meet Candace, Maddox, Patsy and Kendall for dinner at Raising Cane's. Maddox loved Hudson!

Dinner at Keith and Kerry's house. It was great to be able to share our experiences with Hudson and Addilyn and know that other parents go through the same things we are.

First time meeting the bears and on campus!

On our way home we stopped in Georgetown to have a late lunch/early dinner with John's sister Sara.

We absolutely love Waco and going back to Baylor and this time was so special getting to bring Hudson for the first time. We can't wait to go back for Homecoming in the fall!

Hudson and Daddy

John has been so amazing with Hudson.

While we were in the hospital he changed more diapers than me. In fact, he will pretty much change diapers anytime he is home.

He is absolutely crazy about Hudson and loves on him and plays with him any chance he gets.

And I have to say, I can tell that Hudson is already crazy about his Daddy. He knows his Daddy will play with him and sing to him.

I can't wait to watch these 2 as Hudson gets older.

 I always knew John would be an amazing Daddy. But he has blown me away.

Hudson :: 2 Months Old

Dear Hudson,



You are 2 months old today! This last month you have been an absolute joy. Although today you only napped for a total of 1 hour and you nursed every hour! Growth spurt? Your 2 month picture reflect your mood today for sure. 99% of the time you only cry when you are hungry, tired or wet.

You don't have a fussy time of the day which is awesome!



You traveled across Texas for 2 weeks like a champ. I was very nervous how you would do but you were perfect. You have changed so much this month Mr. Man.



You made your first trips to the Promise Land (Waco), Dallas/McKinney and Austin this month. You stayed in a hotel for the first time (in Waco) and slept in your pack & play for the first time.



You went to church for the first time this month when you were 6 weeks and 2 days old. You did great! We went to Sunday School and big church (yes, I'm 28 and a pastor's wife and I still call it big church). You were wide awake during Sunday School and were passed around to so many different people. You were so happy. Then you fell asleep right before big church and slept through the whole service.



You have been smiling so much this month! We got our first responsive smile from you on July 20 when you were 5 weeks 5 days old. It melted our hearts! You are also cooing. Especially in your swing when you are staring at your reflection.



You sat in your Bumbo for the first time this month and you like it. It's good because your head control is great but you are still a little bobble head.



You are really doing great with tracking. You will watch us when we walk around a room and you can follow some of your toys when we move them across your face.



You stayed with your first non-family babysitter this month...the Ratliff's. Mommy and Daddy had a wonderful anniversary date. You had so much fun with them and that night you slept from 11:15-6:30 without waking up! Now has that happened since...nope!



You still love standing. That and staring at ceiling fans are probably your favorite things to do. If you are unhappy we can "stand" you up and you will instantly be happy again (unless you are hungry) or put you under a ceiling fan. You will go into a trance watching it.



Hudson...we cannot remember life before you. You are such a blessing to us and we are loving every second with you.

weight: 12 pounds 6 ounces

height: 22 1/2 inches

eating: every 2-3 hours, still 95% breastfeeding but if we are out in public and it's not conducive to nursing you get a bottle

clothes: 0-3 month, 3 month and a couple of 3-6 month

diaper size: size 1's 

The Many Faces of Hudson

6 Years!

This was supposed to publish on Saturday (our anniversary) but somehow it didn't.


6 years ago today we were here....


And today we are loving on our precious son. It's amazing what can happen in 6 years. Tonight I'm looking forward to a date with my husband. Some friends are going to watch Hudson and we are going to celebrate the 6 amazing years we have been blessed with.

Checking In...

We have been out of town for the last 2 weeks. John had 2 back to back weeks of conferences and now that Hudson is here and has made me a stay at home mom we were able to tag along! 2 weeks ago we were in Waco and last week we were in Dallas/McKinney. I'm am trying to get caught up now that we are home. We are almost unpacked I'm now able to think about blogging.

Oh and because I can't post now without pictures of our precious little man...We had fun with Daddy's hat while we were in Waco. :)







PS: These pictures were taken 2 1/2 weeks ago and he has changed SO much since then!!
