shutter help

One thing that John and I can't wait to add to our house is shutters. However, there are 2 types that we are trying to decide between. That's where you come in. I need your opinion on these 2 shutters. I feel like the first one is a little more modern and updated while the second one is the classic shutter you see on all houses. Keep in mind that even though our house was built in 1967 we are wanting to update it and make it look more modern and well, not grandma's house.

So please leave a comment and let me know which one you like!

Do you like the modern, Raised Panel Shutter.....

Or do you like the classic, Louvered Shutter...

Thanks friends!

  1. I say modern! If you think about cleaning them too, pollen and dirt would be a pain to get out of the classic one... but either way- I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR HOUSE!!! Can you have ALL the work done before we come? Sweet!

  2. I like this first one as well. I don't think you will be taking anything from the beautiful old character of the house by doing the modern one. So FUN!!!

  3. Modern! I can tell you from experience, the classic style is a pain to clean and all kinds of stuff gets trapped in there! Also, flying balls can break those little louvres or whatever they're called.

  4. Modern. I just think it will be easier to clean, easier to repaint and also, it provides a more "solid" feel.

  5. I honestly don't know if you will notice much difference with either of these styles. We have black shutters on our house and the fact that we have shutters makes more of a statement than the type of shutter. You can't lose either way... they will both look great!
