2015 Goals {January update}

I decided that this year I would pop in occasionally, maybe at the end of every month, to update y'all (like you even care...ha!) on how my 2015 goals/resolutions are going. So far I've kept everything. Woohoo!

One of my goals was to read 2 books a month. The first book I read was Gone Girl and it was so good. So messed up, but so good. Once I actually had time to get into this book I couldn't put it down.

I'm currently finishing up It Was Me All Along. This is written by Andie Mitchell who is a popular food blogger. She wrote this memoir about her struggles with food and her weight. It is so inspiring, heartbreaking, and honest. I've loved this book.

Up next will be The Husband's Secret and The Girl on the Train. I've heard great things about both of these and I'm excited to read them.

In the weight loss category...things are coming along slower than I would like, but I'm still losing weight so I can't complain. I'm down 6 pounds this month. I was hoping to lose 10 in January so that didn't happen but I'm still happy with what I did.

I don't want to post too many food/workout selfies (haha!) but I'll share a little every once in a while. This is a typical lunch for me. 2 ounces of Boar's Head honey maple turkey, 1 Laughing Cow cheese wedge, cucumber, and garlic salt on a sandwich thin or this thing I found in the deli area which is only 80 calories. Plus a bowl of berries. Yummy and filling.

Oh...and my nails have been painted every day. :)

Alright, 1 month down...11 to go!!! If you have any book or meal suggestions, please leave a comment!

park, selfies, and chapel

Just a bunch of sweet, random pictures from last week that are too fun not to share. :)

Last Monday the kids were out of school for MLK Day so we met some friends at the park. It was around 65 degrees and so gorgeous!

I'm obsessed with these heart patch leggings. I bought them from consignment last year I think. They were way too big for Emma when I got them so I was so excited for her to wear them this year. They're originally from H&M.

Hudson was walking his way around this instead of climbing straight up. He did this over and over again for about 15 minutes. haha!

Wednesday we were silly and took lots of selfies. The kids love this. And so do I. :)

One of Hudson's teachers sent me these last 2 pictures. Every Thursday, the 3s and 4s classes have chapel at school. Last week the 2s classes joined them so Hudson and Emma got to be in chapel together. They were dancing around and worshiping together and getting these pictures totally made my day!

That was random enough. :)

weekending :: lots of fun edition!

Happy Monday! We had a very full but fun weekend!

I didn't take many pictures at all on Friday, but Friday afternoon I went to our little downtown area and did some shopping. I needed to get some birthday gifts for a party we had Saturday and then I noticed that one of my favorite store was having a sale. Score! Friday evening I took dinner to some friends from church who just had a baby and then our family went over to some friends house for dinner. Hudson and Emma had so much fun playing with their boys.

When we got home Friday night it was 9:00 and Emma was so crazy.

She popped out and said, "Peek boo mommy!" Love her!

Saturday morning we headed to Walt and Sam's 2nd birthday party.

It was SO COLD but the kids didn't care at all. There was a bounce house and a petting zoo!

The animals were Emma's favorite part.

We came home after the party and the kids and I all went down for naps. I had the worst cramp/crick in my neck. I got it Friday night and slept HORRIBLY Friday night so I was exhausted. I found some muscle relaxers and that helped me rest so I could get in a good nap. I still have a lot of pain but it's not near as bad. I'm thinking now that I must have pulled a muscle working out last week. Who knows but it's crazy painful.

Saturday night we made a last minute decision to take the kids to a hibachi restaurant for the first time. I texted my friend Amanda to ask her again which sushi rolls were their favorites and they ended up joining us. It was such a fun night!

The boys were hilarious when there was fire. This is totally unstaged...their real reactions when they first saw fire. haha!

Our chef was awesome and let the boys crack the eggs. He threw away probably 7 or 8 eggs. ha!

Emma was so tired. She sat in my lap the entire time falling asleep. She never ate anything and went to bed as soon as we got home. I'm guessing our late night Friday night and the full day wore her out.

Sunday morning we went to church and then after church went out to eat for Mexican food with a couple other of the staff families. Our kids filled up on way too much salsa and queso and came home and took epic naps. It was so nice.

Sunday night our church's preschool ministry had a Family Praise Night. The preschool ministry at our church is so so so wonderful. I love that they are so intentional with preschoolers and invest so much in them.

We started off making some crafts. The first one they made was a little card to give to a friend.

Then they made chore charts! This was my favorite. ha! I've been wanting to start chore charts with the kids. They love stickers and I think this would be really helpful.

After the crafts we went to the preschool worship room (yep, a room just for preschool worship) and the parents got to experience what our littles do each Sunday in preschool worship. It was so much fun to watch all of the preschoolers sing and praise Jesus. Then they listened to the bible story of Zacchaeus and he even made an appearance through the time machine!

Such a special night! We ended the evening in the gym so all of the kids could jump in the inflatables.

It was a fantastic weekend and we are so thankful. Have a great week, friends! xo

#woodslifeeveryday2015 week 3

Day 15: He sat down and said, "mommy, let's talk." Then began telling me how tomorrow would go. He is so excited that Mrs. Jenni will be here when he wakes up so that John and I can both be with Emma at her surgery. We are so thankful for sweet friends.

Day 16: My beautiful girl. Tubes are in and adenoids are out. We are home now and she is doing great. Thank you for the prayers, friends!

Day 17: We are so thankful for the beautiful sunny day we had! Such a fun afternoon at the park.

Day 18: My job here is done.

Day 19: It's 65 degrees in January so we spent the morning at the park with sweet friends!

Day 20: Our sweet little friend Mary Katherine came over to play after school! Loved watching these 3 walk home holding hands.

Day 21: These two bring me so much joy.

weekending :: Emma's ears edition

Happy Monday, y'all! I hope y'all had a great weekend!

We stared our weekend off SUPER early (we woke up at 4:00 am) to take Emma to the hospital for tubes and adenoids surgery. Our sweet friend, Mrs. Jenni, came over at 4:40 to be at our house with Hudson so that John and I could both go to the hospital with Emma. So thankful for sweet friends when we live far away from family. Before she got her sleepy juice she was full of energy and making every doctor and nurse laugh. Love my girl!

She kept talking about Dr. Black and that he was going to make her ears all better. Sweet girl.

Post "sleepy juice." She was singing "A is for apple, ah ah apple. B is for ball, ba ba ball. C is for cat, cah, cah, cat." Etc. But she was CRAZY groggy so it was so hilarious.

The sleepy juice had fully kicked in and they took her back. We did great...we knew God had it, it was very routine and she would only be in surgery for 20ish minutes. We went and got some coffee, talked for a few minutes and then heard she was out and did great.

Everything went perfect. Dr. Black said her ears had thick (like Elmer's glue) fluid behind them and her adenoids were huge and completely obstructing the back of her nose. He said her tonsils will probably have to come out in a few years. They're already so swollen but there's no reason to take them out now. She was fussy and sleepy but did great.

She fell asleep on me after we got home for about 20 minutes. Sweet sleeping toddler.

That evening she PUT AWAY some Mexican food. She had only had applesauce, yogurt, jello, and pudding all day so she was starving.

Saturday we loaded up our bikes and headed to the park. It was GORGEOUS.

I can't believe she's old enough to do this! Emma followed Hudson around the whole park doing what he did.

Such a fun afternoon!

Emma didn't sleep well Saturday night, which means I didn't sleep well so we stayed home from church yesterday. While I was painting my nails, she filed her's. :)

Happy Monday, friends! xo
